Dr. Julie Shaw, Professor & Former Coach
Dr. Julie Shaw, formerly the head women’s basketball coach at the University of La Verne, has over 15 years of coaching experience, leadership development, team building, and diversity and inclusion advocacy. A California native, Dr. Shaw led the women’s basketball program at the University of La Verne and served as an assistant coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Gonzaga University. While at Gonzaga, Dr. Shaw completed her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from UC Santa Barbara, served as an adjunct professor, and taught Diversity in Sports Organizations. Dr. Shaw has a passion for service in her communities volunteering with Special Olympic Games and Los Angeles World Games. She has served in the non-profit sector participating internationally with Jumpball Basketball Programme. Dr. Shaw also sits on the UC Riverside Athletics Alumni Board, UC Riverside Title IX Committee, Coaches Council for the Alliance of Women Coaches, WBCA Diversity and Inclusion Committee, WBCA So You Want to Be a Coach Committee, and NCAA DIII LGBT Working Group. Dr. Shaw was recently the Director of Education for the Women’s Sports Foundation established by Billie Jean King.
