Dream Team: Ashton Henderson

Ashton Henderson is the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development at Florida State University. He played Division I football at Michigan State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in advertising in 2010 and is passionate about helping students-athletes maximize their potential.

WE: What drew you to Winning Edge in the beginning?

Ashton: I have been tracking the success of the Winning Edge for the last couple of years, and when the opportunity presented itself to serve it was a no-brainer for me to move forward. Reason being, the Winning Edge core values aligned with mine and I am thankful to serve in this capacity.

WE: How did you become part of the Advisory Committee?

Ashton: Corrine and I connected a couple years ago and one of our dynamic student-athletes Jaiden Lars-Woodbey was selected as a GAME Changer. That experience truly shaped him into an amazing professional and we have been esteemed colleagues and friends ever since.

WE: Why is diversity important to you?

Ashton: Diversity is inviting everyone to the party and inclusion and asking them to dance. Also, diversity is essential for our world to thrive and constantly needs to be nurtured and appreciated.

WE: What's the most meaningful or memorable part of your career?

Ashton: To date, it was when I was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development & Leadership within the Florida State Athletics Department.
