Malik Ondigo

A native of El Mirage, Arizona, Malik just completed his Junior year at Texas Tech University and is currently in the process of transferring. He was majoring in Communication Studies while competing as a student-athlete on the Red Raider’s men’s basketball team. Academically, Malik has received recognition as an All-Big 12 Academic Newcomer. Athletically, Malik is a 2019 NCAA Regional Champion and assisted his team in advancing to the 2019 National Championship.

Basketball has not always been Malik’s passion. As an adolescent, Malik was not active in the sport, however, through hard work, dedication, and discipline, he was able to develop into an elite athlete. This development afforded Malik an opportunity to play for his former coach Chris Beard. Through Coach Beard, Malik was granted the opportunity to cultivate his own talk show. Referred to as ‘Malik’s Minute,’ this opportunity has given Malik insurmountable work experience.  As an aspiring broadcaster, Ondigo has the pleasure of interviewing ESPN’s Maria Taylor and Fran Fraschilla, for his show.

Malik is also grateful that he can participate in the 2019 Winning Edge Game Changing Retreat. Malik hopes through this retreat he can gain a better understanding of the past and future. He is also seeking to foster intentional relationships with mentors, professionals, and fellow cohort members.
