Monè Jones
A native of Durham, North Carolina, Monè is a 2019 graduate of the University of Virginia. She received her Bachelor’s in Drama while competing as a student-athlete on the Cavaliers’ women’s basketball team. While at Virginia, Monè exhibited the true meaning of mental toughness. Persevering through personal setbacks, Monè managed to still serve as team captain for the 2018-19 season and remain an honor roll student.
Choosing the University of Virginia was an easy choice for Monè. She wanted to attend a university where she knew she would be challenged and prepared academically in addition to having the opportunity to compete at a high level. However, Monè’s opportunity to compete was short-lived, as she faced severe injuries twice in her playing career. Although Monè endured some turbulent times, she did not allow that frustration to demoralize her. Instead, Monè focused on her passion, which is broadcasting. An admirer of Maria Taylor, Monè hopes she can become a major sports broadcaster one day.
As an aspiring sports broadcaster, Monè is truly grateful for the impact sports have had on her life. She believes that sports have helped her find her voice and passion. As a result, she wants to use her platform, to assist others in finding their voice and passion. Monè is a firm believer that life is about what you are doing to assist others.
