“As we enter our fifth season of influencing tomorrow’s leaders, we want to continue providing resources that support them and their journey,” Winning Edge Executive Director Corinne Milien said. “This partnership with InXAthlete will assist current and future Game Changers with an online profile and direct access to our partners looking to offer valuable work experience from internships to full-time opportunities.”
Cam Fenton was a Game Changer during the inaugural 2018 Winning Edge Leadership Retreat, and since has begun his career as a Development Associate at Texas Christian University Frog Club.
I discovered The Winning Edge on Instagram in April 2019. I am a bit of a procrastinator, but having just recently been involved a near death car accident, I realized that procrastination is no longer an option for me.
I first heard about The Winning Edge Leadership Academy through a mentor of mine, Dr. Julie Shaw. She presented me with an opportunity to attend the Sports + Entertainment Career Summit presented by Endeavor and without hesitation, I said yes.
Reggie Jennings is the current Coordinator of Student Development Services at Texas Christian University and first joined the Winning Edge family after attending the 2018 summer retreat in Miami, FL.
It was a no-brainer for me to apply for the Game Changing Retreat after my brother attended the inaugural retreat last year. I remember picking him up from the airport, and throughout the 45 minute trip home, he could not stop talking about all the amazing things he learned and experienced during it.
Leading up to the retreat, I didn’t really know what to expect. I heard nothing but great things from last year’s cohort members. So I reached out to my roommate, Candice, ahead of time.
“We’re a family now. Like it’s not just the weekend or whatever, you really end looking at each other like family by the end of the retreat.”
That was Haley’s response when I asked what she enjoyed most about the retreat.
Let me give a quick breakdown of how this even came into existence. Nebraska Athletic Department’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion, DaWon Baker, said, “Hey, Candice, you should definitely apply for this retreat.” He told me more about it and sent me the link to the application.
In the end, it’s important for us to strive together, to ask for what we deserve and to know that our mind is just a barrier. Maria and Corinne used this weekend to give us the inspiration, the tools andthe connections. Now it’s up to us!
MOBOT will provide their Big Bertha 40oz – foam roller water bottles to encourage health, hydration, and environmental sustainability. The product will be used by retreat participants as they take part in activities that exercise their mind and body including a trap yoga session and introduction to golf lesson.
I began my mentoring journey for the Winning Edge Leadership Academy and their Game Changing Retreat in its inaugural year, 2018. I have the honor of returning for the Winning Edge Leadership Academy for its second year kicking off in June 2019.
